Germany's Second Destiny

In June 1888, Wei Lian, a doctor of manufacturing and a lover of German history, passed away as Wilhelm II who was about to ascend the throne. His father is critically ill, his wife is suspicious, and Bismarck has access to the imperial government and information. He knew that the original historical Germany would lead to a rupture between monarch and ministers, an imbalance of land and sea, and the collapse of the empire, but he did not know who to see first on the day he ascended the throne, which report had been deleted, and which general would obey an order without countersigning. There is no system, no future weapons that can be created from memory. Starting from cabinet selection, military reports, intelligence portals and policy agendas, Wei Lian strived for substantive power while sincerely respecting Bismarck. He then used correct technical direction, manufacturing management, scientific research funding and institutional patience to promote breakthroughs in materials, machine tools, chemical industry, railways, communications and military systems. As Germany becomes stronger, its opponents will also change. Britain maintained the balance of power, France preserved the country, Russia had its own cracks, the United States calculated trade and credit, and Austria-Hungary headed for a new crisis after the death of the old emperor. He could delay the war and get a second outcome for Germany, but in the end he could not order history to obey one person forever.
