The Buried Savior

Why does the Savior need to be buried with him? Monsters descend and the old world collapses. He was forced to become a savior, build an organization, fight disasters, and sacrifice others in exchange for strength. Eventually, he was wanted around the world, like a villain. He thought he could win. But he forgot - the power inside the cage can never break the shackles outside the cage. When everything is still and everything is swallowed up by "forgetfulness", he becomes the only martyr. He saved everything. The price is that he becomes the only thing that is not saved.
