Under the Tide

When he was eight years old, Polemos Maxi walked into Alki Mirror Lake. It was supposed to be just an ordinary baptism. He would get a name, get dressed, follow his parents back to Tigo, continue hunting, wrestling, and grow up like all the children in the tribe. But that day, the extinguished fire ignited again. An eye opened at the bottom of the lake. When Ma Xi woke up again, his parents were gone. The eight-year-old child has a grown-up body and stands alone on a strange mirror lake. That year, travelers still traveled along the old roads, caravans transported goods to distant lands, and people performed rituals left by their ancestors, occasionally receiving responses from the world. Everything seems to be no different from the past. No one knows when the old days will end. Maybe that day never really comes.
