It Happened to Cause Fire

It is the tenth year since Gan Yi and Bo Jingnian first met. Through years of hard work, she has become the trusted aide his father relies on most. Full of passion, she walks up to him and confesses her love. Bo Jingnian replies coolly, "We can date, but we can't make it public." In a nameless, unofficial secret relationship, Gan Yi watches him openly shower someone else with all the favoritism he can give. Her youthful feelings slowly cool. One last time, she asks him to choose: make their relationship public or break up. Bo Jingnian gives his usual answer: "Isn't what we have just fine?" Later, Gan Yi hands in her resignation. Her reason: she's getting married. When Bo Jingnian hears about it, he is furious that Gan Yi would resort to such a clumsy trick to force him into marriage. Suppressing his anger, he agrees to let her go without changing expression. Bo Jingnian is certain Gan Yi will come crawling back and apologize sooner or later. But before Gan Yi's apology comes an invitation to his good friend Xie Dingxiao's wedding. The bride's name on it is none other than [Gan Yi]. * In Gan Yi's mind, Xie Dingxiao is a shameless, scheming bastard, a dangerous man whose very existence is enough to make anyone keep their distance. She never expected that one day he would pin her against a full-length mirror, his arm locked around her waist, and kiss her until she could barely breathe. "Everything he can give you, and everything he can't, I can give you." Xie Dingxiao presses his thin lips to her skin, his voice low and husky. "Choose me. Let's get our marriage license tomorrow." No one believes Xie Dingxiao would actually get married. They all assume he's just doing it to appease his elders. After all, filial devotion is the only weakness this young master has. Who knows, he might quietly get divorced one day. Until one day, a will is made public. Complete with its signature and seal, it states in clear black and white: The sole beneficiary of all assets under Xie Dingxiao's name is Gan Yi.
