A Confession in Beijing and Hong Kong

When Zhu Xia was seven, she had no one in the world, so the Song family of the capital took her in. She was the granddaughter-in-law chosen by Old Master Song himself, and Song Chengyu's childhood sweetheart. He was the family's heir. The He family of Hong Kong was enormously influential. Its current head, He Lianzhou, was powerful, cold, ruthless, and a force to be reckoned with. Their lives were worlds apart, and their paths should never have crossed. No one could have imagined that one day they would appear in the same news story. Hong Kong media ran a sensational headline: “Late-night secret meeting with top tycoon He Lianzhou! Woman suspected to be Song Chengyu's fiancée. The heir apparent becomes He Guifei!” ** Years after their breakup, Zhu Xia comforted herself with the thought that someone as cold-hearted as He Lianzhou must have forgotten her long ago. Until the night entertainment reporters revealed their wedding date, fireworks burst brilliantly across Victoria Harbour beneath the boundless night sky. Inside the sealed car, it was dark, and neither could make out the other's expression. “I have more power and influence than he does. Why not come lie to me? Go on, lie to me,” He Lianzhou said, gripping her chin hard, though his voice was soft. “Let me see what you're capable of.” In a daze, Zhu Xia seemed to return to that bleak, snowy New Year's Eve. She was pinned against a bookshelf, her gaze fixed on the dark red book covers. The man bit her earlobe, his breath restrained yet fervent, and recited in a low voice, “All the antidote I need is, ” “To hold you tight.”
