The Path of the Soldier's Soul

Set against the 1964 border defense of northern Saibei, The Soldiers' Spirit follows nine young men from the same hometown in northern Shanxi as they enlist together and join the engineering unit of the 168th Regiment, heading to the frozen wastelands of the Yin Mountains to hone their skills and build defenses. In the extreme cold, with temperatures below minus twenty degrees, they dig shelters, battle wind and snow, and build strategic fuel depots, wielding steel picks and iron shovels as weapons and using their own flesh and blood to withstand the frozen earth and bitter cold. The nine brothers each put their talents to use and stand together through life and death. Through their hard work, one pickaxe and shovel at a time, they pass on the revolutionary flame and write a story of the engineers who toil in the wilderness, building defenses for their country with unwavering loyalty.
