A Detective's Path Begins in Prison

Xu Jing is a police officer at a local police station, and his dream is to become a criminal investigator.

On May 13, 2026, fate played a cruel joke on him.

He was detained as a murder suspect.

Surrounded by crime, he took it all as a chance to hit rock bottom and bounce back, the beginning of his journey to becoming a criminal investigator.

In an expert report that identified only two sets of shoeprints, he spotted a third.

Amid a negligent killer's taunts, he exposed the truth: the man had killed deliberately.

As he listened to his fellow inmates recount their glorious exploits, he identified the one-legged throat-slitter from more than thirty years ago.

When he finally walks free and becomes a criminal investigator, he will be honed into a sharp blade that pierces cold cases, unraveling the alibi schemes of an invisible serial killer, exposing the elusive face-swapping murderer, and crushing the dismemberment fiend's plot to pull off the perfect switch...
