The sun is still there, but the world is suffering from "voicelessness" - every thousand years, a "Great Silence" will erase all sounds in the world, along with human memory and civilization. Beside the Diming Well in Jiu Ming City, a mute young man named Wen Ye made a living by doing laundry for others.
