Madam Si Zheng Solves Another Case

[Mystery Solving, Strong Female Lead, Imaginative, Strange Tales, Suspense]

After being ambushed while pursuing a criminal, Shen Zhiyi opened her eyes to find herself a lowly servant at the Yongning County yamen. She was also accused of poisoning a foreign envoy and sentenced to die in his place.

What a coincidence: solving cases was her specialty. She had been the director of the Dali Temple's Secret Cases Bureau. Even more coincidentally, the newly appointed county magistrate was an old friend from the Imperial College.

The man who usually loved putting on airs faced everyone's doubts and held out his hand to her. "Don't push yourself if you can't do it."

"When the Secret Cases Bureau investigates a case, every level of government must cooperate."

A general who grew a dog's head, a silkworm maiden who spun silk until she died, a merfolk whose tears became pearls, a giant with clouds beneath his feet, and a child with a hole in their chest. The two joined hands to solve cases, working together with perfect understanding.

But she seemed to have seen another version of herself in a dream: head bowed, dressed in plain clothes, timid, yet wearing her face.

Who was she? The more often Shen Zhiyi dreamed of her, the worse her amnesia became. Sometimes she would wake up in a farmhouse dozens of miles away, with no memory of how she got there. Only Xie Nanfeng always stayed by her side, but it seemed something was weighing on his heart. Shen Zhiyi did not ask, because she too had something she had to risk her life to do.

Case-by-case investigations, two formidable leads.
