Afraid of Ghosts? Then How Can You Talk About Strange Tales? A Night Watchwoman's Work Diary

Lei Ying was a night-shift security guard. After finishing an overnight patrol, she went to her dishwashing side job. Then she returned to her rented room and fell asleep the moment she hit the bed.

Half-awake, she heard someone suggest, "It's desolate here. Why don't we stop at the village inn up ahead?"

Then a deep electronic voice announced: [Beginner System online. Welcome, Host, to the first instance of the Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio world: 'Corpse Transformation.']

.

Transmigrating into a book wasn't easy. She was a desperate illiterate with no money, and she wasn't the rich young lady or official's wife she'd dreamed of becoming.

So she had to fall back on her old line of work: night-shift security. In ancient times, that meant being a night watchman. And because she was still broke, she also had to take System missions and occasionally work at a burial ground to make money.

Every world was overrun with ghosts and monsters.

She was losing it. How was she supposed to deal with Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio when she was afraid of ghosts?

.

"Tweet-tweet, why aren't you coming out to talk? I have enough points, don't I? Hurry up and turn into a handsome man to calm me down."

"Master, didn't you punish me by locking me in the dark room? Yesterday I detected your heart rate speeding up. Do you really like Zhang Sheng?"

"..."

She'd remembered to sound the night watchman's clapper, but forgotten to give him a beating. This System insisted on making her spend points to permanently reshape it into a top-tier handsome man from Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio. What a waste of her points!
