The Chaotic Chronicles of War

The Chronicle of the War of the Warring States records the rise and fall of the sixteen kingdoms in the early years of the War of the Warring States. At the end of autumn and winter, the last king of the Divine Dynasty rules through cruelty and loses control. The Ye family in the south establishes Shu, the first to do so, and the other warlords raise their armies in succession. Nine kingdoms rise together, and border clashes gradually begin. Shu and the Divine Dynasty sign a ten-year nonaggression pact, but the Divine Dynasty immediately breaks its word and launches a surprise attack. Swordgate is on the verge of falling. The Crown Prince of Shu sends an unexpected force on a long-distance raid against Nightwalking City. The divine capital falls, the Divine King dies, and his descendants flee north to the grasslands, where they establish the Great Khan's court. Shu then enters Nightwalking City, renames it Luoyi, and establishes its capital in Chengdu. The Prince of Wu'an dies, and a new king takes the throne. Civil strife splits the Central Plains court into Han and Xuanhan. Xuanhan allies with Western Chu to resist Liang, and the great war in the Central Plains erupts. At this time, the institution of emperor does not yet exist. The various states all call their rulers kings, sometimes allying and sometimes breaking apart, as warfare and disaster rage without end. Thus begins the chaotic age of the Sixteen Kingdoms.
