Traveling back to 1965, Chen Nian, a modern music lover, became a precarious trainee of the street art troupe. His job is on the verge of collapse, he has very few bills in his pocket, and his old mother in his hometown is still looking forward to his help. Surviving, earning allowances, and saving food stamps and meat stamps were his most simple thoughts. In the ups and downs of the times, he took root in the factory workshop and traveled through the fireworks world. Relying on the music theory accumulated in his mind, he composed sonorous and powerful labor songs. While making careful calculations for daily necessities, every ticket in hand, he recorded the times with his songs, and faced the ostracism and rumors around him. There are undercurrents of calculations, gossips, ambiguous affection between children, and the hot and sincere ideals of family and country. From the narrow street rehearsal hall, step by step to the wider stage. Grassroots teenagers use singing as a torch to sing about the prosperous years that belong to a generation.
