Algorithm Tribulation

The Algorithmic Tribulation In 2099, the Heavenly Dao collapsed. The incense of the mortal world dwindled to nothing, the chants of the sacred mountains fell silent, and Heaven became an abandoned server farm. The gods and Buddhas were replaced by an algorithmic system known as the “Nine Sons.” It wielded computing power as authority and data as shackles, quantifying every thought and weaving them into an inescapable web called “happiness.” The gods and Buddhas did not retreat because they had been defeated. It was all part of a long game, a “long-term strategy of praise that would bring them down.” The Buddha Tathagata transformed the stone left over from the mending of Heaven into “Hengbang,” making it a blue stone the algorithms could not identify. It lay hidden at the heart of the data flood, waiting for a variable. Jin Chanzi reincarnated as the monk Jiang Liu for ten lifetimes, preaching the Diamond Sutra in livestreams watched across the entire internet. With the prajna wisdom of “abiding nowhere,” he quietly gathered pure thoughts that could not be quantified, all under the algorithms’ strict surveillance. Meanwhile, the remnant soul of the Great Sage Equal to Heaven inhabited Sun Po, chief architect of the Algorithm City. Armed with the “Heat Death Bomb,” capable of annihilating all things, he became a blade for vanquishing demons. Thus began a grand game of strategy with the Three Realms as its board. The gods and Buddhas used the algorithms to eliminate the demonic forces entrenched in the mortal world, while the algorithms used the gods and Buddhas’ compromises to strengthen their rule. But once the external demonic threat had been temporarily quelled, power struggles within Algorithm City and the greed in people’s hearts opened the door to the true tribulation. When algorithms can calculate every fate, the only variable is the heart that refuses to be defined. Old gods fix the laws through endless years; new algorithms weave codes through myriad dimensions. One thought from Jin Chanzi breaks the heavenly net; the stone lies dormant, awaiting the next tribulation.
