Clouds Growing Out of the Mud

When Lu Anping was thirty-five, he lost his job and his marriage. He fled from Beijing back to his hometown of Qingxi Village in the southwest mountainous area, thinking that his life had hit rock bottom. What greeted him was an aging land - the young people left, the fields were deserted, and the village was like a leaky bellows that could not be inflated no matter how hard it worked. Unwilling to be reconciled, he pulled together a left-behind boy who made short videos, a veteran who had been farming for a lifetime, and a college student village official who returned to his hometown, and tried to use the Internet to "move" the village's land to the cloud. If urban residents adopt a ridge of fields, they can watch the entire process of crops from sowing to harvesting through their mobile phones. He calls this a "cloud farm." No one believed he could do it. The villagers said that he was messing around, the live broadcast room was deserted, and half of the crops in the first season were washed away by heavy rains. But in this muddy field, something is quietly growing - trust, hope, and a new way of living that a loser has never thought of. This is a story of mutual redemption between a group of people and a piece of land. When the city and the countryside meet in the clouds, clouds really grow out of the mud.
