Mountains and Seas with Stars

Deep in the mountains of Zhaoyang District, Zhaotong, Yunnan, Zhao Yang and Ke Xing met when they were five years old. They were neighbors separated by a wall. From elementary school to high school, they wrote homework on the same desk and walked through the four seasons on the same mountain road. Zhao Yang is introverted and quiet, like a silent rock in Wumeng Mountain; Ke Xing is outward and bright, like the first star to light up on the top of the mountain. After taking the college entrance examination, the two young men plunged into the reinforced concrete forest of Shanghai with their wild spirit. They shared a bowl of instant noodles in a rental house, were soaked in the rain at the subway entrance, were scolded in an office building until they couldn't hold their heads up, and held hands on the Bund late at night and said "it will be okay." This is not a fairy tale about Cinderella meeting a prince. This is a story about two children from the mountains who spent eighteen years living the words "out of the mountains" into their lives. They cried, were poor, separated, and found each other again. This is the story of Zhao Yang and Ke Xing, and it is also the story of everyone who comes out of the mountains, grits his teeth in the big city, and still has a person in his heart.
