Li Weichen, an FMVP esports player, and Yan Xuqing, an inheritor of woodblock New Year prints, were once high school classmates with opposing ideals. A game-skin project brings them together again. For the first lantern festival since Spring Festival was recognized as intangible cultural heritage, Yan Xuqing is called in at the last minute to create a fifteen-meter-tall lantern display of Two Fans and Qin Liangyu. Putting their differences aside, the two join bamboo craftsman Zhuang Cheng and lantern maker Meng Dongqi to create a Chinese-style project that blends esports with intangible cultural heritage, both online and off. As old knots between the young people slowly unravel, old and new cultures thrive side by side. Through innovation, they carry intangible heritage into the future, giving voice to Chengdu's Bashu spirit: daring to break with convention and bloom anew in the sun.
