"Dark Blue Journey" is a military coming-of-age novel about the Chinese navy's journey from offshore waters to the deep blue. The protagonist of the story, Li Dazhu, whose parents divorced when he was young, has been wandering in society. From a child laborer in a garment factory to a coolie on the dock, he has experienced hardships in the rough years of the market. When he was nineteen years old, he followed the call from the recruitment poster and entered the Humen Shajiao Recruit Company. The novel takes time as the axis and details Li Dazhu's journey from a dusty boy to a dark blue blade. From joining the army as a new recruit to guarding the Nansha reefs, he moved to the North to participate in military exercises, returned to the Nansha reefs, defended the waters in the "three highs" environment, and launched a silent confrontation with the United States' most advanced destroyers; he led the fourth squad that "becomes a benchmark" and became the youngest squad leader to engraved the idea that "family and country are more important than himself" into his bones. Entering the second and third volumes, Li Dazhu selects and transfers ships, participates in the technological development of the 10,000-ton large-scale "Hanhai Ship", and gnaws the hard bones of cross-generation equipment in Zhoushan; on the first voyage, he encounters the approach of foreign military reconnaissance planes, the Bering Strait ocean-going sword, and is awarded the title of "Model of the Times". Eight years later, he removed his armor and returned to the camp, and then devoted himself to the research and development of the next generation amphibious assault ship and the iterative testing of the "Deep Blue Classroom", passing the fire to the new generation of naval officers and soldiers such as Chen Xiaohai.
