21-Year-old Lin Yu failed to find a job abroad and returned to Rencheng, Jining. He took a photocopy of "Jining Zhili Prefecture Chronicle" and visited every historic site in the old city: he climbed the Taibai Tower to trace the past events of Li Bai's 23 years of residence, checked the nine-hundred-year-old cast pagoda inscriptions at the Iron Pagoda Temple, and searched for the well-documented past in the Yutang Sauce Garden and the ancient canal alleys. It does not write made-up unofficial history, and all the buildings, literati, and allusions are supported by inscriptions and classics; it does not create bloody conflicts, but only records the gentle daily life of the old man Shoujing, the old street shopkeeper, and local ordinary people.
