Old Things Can Talk: The Mystery of the Newlyweds of 1979

In 1979, cultural relic appraiser Su Yu unexpectedly became the newlywed bride of the Chen family. She had planned to end the marriage and return to the city to continue her studies, but then she heard an old object in the courtyard recount a long-buried story about a cultural relic.

When Su Yu came to, she had become the Chen family's bride of just three days.

Her mother-in-law was domineering, her sister-in-law was difficult, and her husband, whom she had never met, was often away from home. She had only wanted to investigate a problem with her marriage registration and regain her freedom as soon as possible. Instead, she discovered that she still possessed a special ability: when she touched an old object, she could hear the scattered words it had preserved.

The blue-and-white jar in the corner of the Chen family's courtyard remembered an old man who had gone missing. An old incense burner kept repeating her mother's name, while an account book sealed away for years pointed to cultural relics lost during wartime.

Drawing on her expertise, Su Yu followed the clues and promptly reported her discoveries to the cultural relics authorities. Chen Jianshe went from suspicion to understanding, gradually realizing that marriage should never be a reason to constrain someone.

When the old objects finally told their stories in full, Su Yu also found out where she belonged and which path she truly wanted to take.
