I Remember I Died Once

I remember I died once. My name is Gwen Crowe. The name is fake, the memory is fake - the laboratory spent four years stuffing a piece of someone else's life into me, then threw me into the forest and said the body would be recovered in three days. I survived until the third day. Then died. A ball of gelatin fell from the sky and ate my corpse, replicating my body and inheriting all the false things in my mind. Now I have a body that doesn't hurt, an indescribable pulling sensation, and a twisted brain. In this world, there are people who practice secret arts with their souls, people who live in symbiosis with monsters, and people who use their own personalities to drive alchemical machinery. I don't count. I have no soul, no complete self, no personality that can be burned to power a machine. I didn't know where I was going, just a thread pulling in my chest. They say memories define a person. But my memories are all false. So who am I? I'm going to find the answer to this question. The premise is that I must first learn not to be so hungry that I eat people.
