The story takes root in rural Sichuan. The protagonist Lin Yan has been left behind since he was a child. His parents work abroad all year round. When he was young, he shared all the farm work at home with his grandparents and younger sister. The hard work day after day, the heavy expectations and emotional neglect of his family gave him a desire for a relaxed life since he was a boy, and he developed a character that is tolerant of tension and habitual self-depletion. It wasn't until he met Su Wan, the owner of a second-hand bookstore, that he began to look back on his half-life obsession and face the shackles of his original roots. A person's life, all his life, is not to rush to other people's mountains and seas, but to find himself who has lost his way. All loneliness, hardship, and regret are not punishments from fate, but life's gentle way of waking you up.
