Long Scroll of History

This novel uses Northeastern-specific dialect words, object names, and work methods to tell the lives of ordinary people. It does not intend to exaggerate the tragedy of the war, but focuses on the ruthless tearing apart of ordinary families and the trauma of individual souls caused by the war; it also does not intend to paint a political picture, but focuses on how policy changes specifically affect the meals of a rural family. We followed the protagonist's footsteps, from the field ridges of Fengjiagou to the labor camp in Erlong Mountain, to the cavalry company on the snowy fields, and finally returned to the silent and solid black land. It witnessed his stubbornness in fighting against fate, his mountain-like responsibility for his family, his deep-rooted love for the land, and his bravery and kindness accumulated over the long years. In the story, there are the simplest vows such as "come back alive" and "live a good life", there is the silent affection carried by a boxwood comb, there is the life and death farewell with the war horse during the glacier breakout, and there is also the warmth of a bag of corn noodles between neighbors in the famine years. These details reflect the temperature of an era and the resilience of a nation better than any slogan. He is an experiencer of that history and a bearer of that history - using his own way to protect the integrity of the family and continue life and family ties in a limited living space. His life is like a mirror, reflecting the difficult years that our ancestors and fathers have gone through. It also allows us to understand this period of history more intuitively, deeply love the land under our feet, and thus cherish the peace we have now, this hard-won beautiful life.
