The Five Clans: A Chronicle

Centered on the rise and fall of a great clan, this story shows how the saying “emperors come and go, but the aristocratic clans endure” goes from triumph to collapse. Spanning roughly 250 years, from the Zhenguan era of Emperor Taizong of Tang (around 630) to the Huang Chao Rebellion at the end of the Tang dynasty (880), it follows the fates of four or five generations.
