Zeng Shen, Zeng Gong, and Zeng Guofan were all linked to autism spectrum (high-functioning autism) and Asperger's due to neurodevelopmental delay since childhood. This all shows that Zeng has no talent for self-protection and avoidance of harm, and his talent can only be revealed later in life. Zengzi was evaluated as "Shenyelu" (meaning not smart enough, lacking spiritual energy); Zeng Guofan was "a thief who listens to endorsements at night", and Zeng Gong won the Jinshi after three tests.
