Lü Bu's Halberd Points to the Heavens

The one thing Lü Bu has never believed in is fate.

Amid the snow and wind of Jiuyuan, he finds a Sky Piercer Halberd. A voice from within tells him: You will kill Ding Yuan, join Dong Zhuo, and die at White Gate Tower. The histories will call you a servant of three masters and a fickle villain, and those words will be repeated for a thousand years.

“Who wrote it?”

“Mo Yuan. A group of people who keep accounts for Heaven. They wrote down the life, death, glory, and disgrace of everyone in the world long ago.”

Lü Bu lays the halberd across his horse and says three words: “Tear it up.”

From Bingzhou to Luoyang, from Hulao Pass to White Gate Tower, Lü Bu swings his halberd and severs not only his enemies’ heads, but also the fates written for them in advance. He cuts down Mo Yuan’s agents, one after another, and pulls up the anchors of destiny Mo Yuan has planted, one by one. Zhang Liao, Gao Shun, Chen Gong, Jia Xu: people who should have left history with regrets now stand by his side, one after another.

Beneath Hulao Pass, he single-handedly holds Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei at bay. Atop White Gate Tower, he ends the final page of his own book of fate with his own hands.

“The book of fate says I die at White Gate Tower. It got that wrong. This tower isn’t my end. It’s where I’m reborn.”

The official histories will not record Mo Yuan, the War Against Heaven, or the Sky Piercer Halberd that came from beyond the skies. They will write only: In the late Han, there was a man named Lü Bu, from Jiuyuan in Bingzhou. He slew Dong Zhuo, swept across the six directions, pacified the eight corners of the realm, and ushered in peace for all ages.
