World Tree Ring

This is a story I started writing when I was 17 years old. At that time, I was thinking: If there is a world where life is short, fragile, and destined to disappear, then what is the meaning of living? I created Kyle, a boy who fell from a tall building but was picked up in another world. I asked him to meet the sage, meet the three girls, meet the vampire, the evil dragon, the devil and the giant dragon. I let him lose again and again and choose to protect me again and again. Only halfway through writing did I realize that this was not an answer to "the meaning of life", but an admission that there is no answer to this question, but the process of finding the answer itself is meaning. If you have ever felt lonely, confused, and don't know why you are living, maybe this story can resonate with you.
