Li Er

The main body of the avenue is naturally divided into two sides. On one side is Li Er, a mortal who has been seeking Taoism all his life. He is well-read in classics, has compassion in his heart, and is deeply involved in human suffering and obsession. On the other side is Lao Dan, a Taoist who hangs in heaven and earth and is silent and thoughtless. He is familiar with the principles of heaven and earth, but has no experience in the human world and lacks the warmth of the human world. Mortals enter the world and experience hardships in mountains and rivers. The Tao body hangs in the air and watches the changes of all things. The two are originally one, and only by walking the complete Spring and Autumn Road and crossing the Hangu Pass can the duality be integrated and eventually exchanged in both directions: the mortal travels westward out of the pass and rushes to the endless wilderness to continue searching for the way; the Taoist returns eastward and enters the pass, writing five thousand words to preach for eternity.
