The Steel Whale’s Fall

In 2026, Professor Lin Hai passes away. Among his belongings is a set of blueprints spanning thirty thousand pages: plans for a steel metropolis, 2,200 meters long. Thirty-five-year-old Li Wei is the only person to read them all. She walks into an underground conference hall in Zurich and faces seven of the world’s leading figures in finance and technology. “I’ll build it,” she says. But building a ship is never just a technical challenge. Some want to steal her design, some want to kill her project, and someone is watching every steel beam she builds from the shadows. In the heart of the ship, buried in the steel of Section B7, lies a secret from twenty years ago. It isn’t steel. It’s a memory. The ship is learning to feel the world. And the world is responding to it.
