Go Against the Current and Grow in the Secular World

I stayed up late to finish updating, closed the book and sat there for ten minutes without any relief. I originally thought it was a story about an ordinary county boy's counterattack, but as I read it, I realized that it was not someone else's story. It was clearly about the stumbles of each of us ordinary people in the first half of our lives. The six people who walked out of the rooftop of County No. 1 Middle School did not have a golden finger: Someone dismantled 10,000 scrapped motors before they dared to be sure that their craftsmanship was not "useless"; Someone missed the snow in Beijing by three points and turned around. Orange candies were handed to the children who needed them more; Some people guarded a pond of shrimps that overturned half of the pond, holding a burned out water pump and waiting for their brothers to come to the rescue; Some people wrote countless lines of code and erased memory sticks for seven years before they dared to admit that "you can have your own way without education." The most shocking thing is never the big ups and downs, but the tinkering details: It's the bicycle chain stuck, the boyishness of smashing the nuts with the Oxford dictionary; It's the black oil on the cheek when the fingertips rub, like in I drew an unnamed map in my heart; It is the chipped porcelain bowl, which has been dropped and cracked, but it can still hold hot rice and hot soup; It is the inconspicuously thin copper gasket, which can withstand all the swings of life if it is padded in the right place. We always say "life must be complete", but all the people in this book live with gaps. The graduate school I didn't pass, the love I didn't express, the regret I didn't fix, the old friends I didn't gather together. But they didn't stop - they washed their hands when they were dirty, reinstalled the chain when it fell off, rewound the coil when the water pump burned out, and turned back slowly when the road strayed. Just like what is written in the book: Some things cannot be repaired to their original appearance, but if you put them together, you can move forward. Today I would like to pass this on to all those who have been "getting by" in life: You don't have to be successful or famous, and you don't have to make up for all the gaps. Go forward with a little regret, a little thought in your hands, and having a few friends around you who can say "jump into the pond and wash your feet together" is already good.
