Travel Through the Jiajing Period of the Ming Dynasty and Take Charge of the Political Affairs of the Northern and Southern Dynasties

Shen Mo, a graduate student in the Department of Modern History, died suddenly in the early hours of the morning after staying up late to study a paper on the imperial examination system of the Ming Dynasty. When I woke up, I found that I had traveled to the thirty-fifth year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1556) and became Kuaiji County, Shaoxing Prefecture, Zhejiang Province. Shen Mo (alias Yanqiu), a fifteen-year-old boy from Shenjia Village, Dongxiang, whose parents died, lives in the home of his uncle Shen Huairen. Shen Mo huddled in the drafty woodshed, his clothes were thin and shabby, and he was hungry. On the table in front of me were the "Collected Commentary on Chapters and Sentences of the Four Books" left by my father and a half-cut candle— After quickly confirming the era and situation, Shen Mo had only one thought in his mind: the imperial examination was the only way out.
