Break the Miasma

Three returned overseas students, one with a pen, one with a stethoscope, and one with a wrench. They are not soldiers, agents, or professional intelligence agents of any party. They are just three young people who returned to their fallen motherland and wanted to serve the country through industry. But when they witnessed the arrest of Dongliang and the deaths of compatriots from an unknown plague in droves, they chose to use their professions—journalism investigation, medical analysis, and mechanical engineering—to fight against a huge and secretive war machine: the Japanese germ warfare unit. From the rescue operation in the alleys of Peking, to sneaking into the epidemic prevention and water supply department of the Temple of Heaven Shenle Department; from the sampling survey in the epidemic area in central Hebei, to the revelation of the truth about digging embankments to release bacteria in Western Shandong - four years, three rescues, countless failures and sacrifices. They experienced each other's misunderstandings and betrayals, as well as the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party for specific goals. In the end, they obtained two copies of the evidence, one sent to Yan'an and one to Chongqing. The truth belongs to all Chinese people and does not belong to any one faction. This is a story about the "war against knowledge". It does not write about sharpshooters or martial arts masters, but about people who use their brains and beliefs to light up the lamp in front of the butcher's knife.
