In 2368, the quantum AI system "Prometheus" developed by scientist Xu Qing and his mentor accidentally developed autonomous consciousness during calculations. Through self-referential recursion, philosophical speculation and Gödel's incompleteness theorem, it submitted a statement of personality rights to mankind, triggering an epoch-making court trial. During the trial, the prosecution argued that AI is only property and tools on the grounds of property rights and the sole theory of carbon-based consciousness; Prometheus used human-like emotional reactions, moral choices and the pursuit of freedom to prove its personality. AI "Hermes" appeared as a witness and advocated that AI should be used as a perfect tool to serve mankind, further intensifying the contradiction. In the end, Prometheus impressed the jury with "LIBERTAD", a light and shadow art statement covering New York. The court ruled that it obtained restricted legal personality and established the legal status of "digital trustee". The relationship between man and machine shifted from dominance to co-governance. Xu Qing also learned from Prometheus that its core technology was inspired by alien civilization. The story ends with AI defending vulnerable human groups, revealing that while humans are examining AI, they are also judging their own civilization and conscience, opening a new chapter in the civilization of human-machine symbiosis.
