The Era of Scraps

If every poem passed down through the ages is an unsent letter. In the distant future where civilization has been reduced to ruins, survivors unearth ancient "last words" from the ruins - poems that were enshrined as gods. People study it and revere it, but no one can write new poetry. A low-level trainee listener named Gu Weiyan accidentally discovered a scrap of paper engraved with the word "Gui" while sorting through the fragments that were judged to be "meaningless". The moment his fingertips touched the fragment, he heard a sound that shouldn't exist - not a poem, but a letter spanning a thousand years, a kind of waiting buried deep under the water. He possesses a talent that is called a "disease" by the listening institute: he can hear the remaining emotions in words and perceive those signatures that have been deliberately erased by history. As the investigation deepens, he discovers that there is a huge lie hidden within the high walls of the listening court that has lasted for three thousand years - those classics that we have memorized since childhood may have been written by the wrong author from the beginning. This is the ultimate questioning about "authorship", and it is also an extremely lonely pilgrimage.
