Renewing Our Past-Life Bond, Part Two

A little koi in the lotus pond before the Buddha listened every day as a young monk recited scriptures. Over time, it absorbed Buddhist teachings, grasped their truths, and cultivated a true form. But after accidentally wandering into the Sutra Repository, knocking over an oil lamp, and burning the scriptures, it was banished to the mortal realm. Unwilling to let the little koi suffer alone, the young monk willingly chose to share her punishment. A disciple of the Sutra Repository who adored the little koi also volunteered to share her punishment. The three were banished to the mortal realm together. Many years later, they would rekindle their past connections in the human world.
