Yellow River to the East

"Yellow River Eastward" starts from the Loess Plateau of northern Shaanxi in the late 1980s and tells the epic struggle of Wang Dehou and Guilan's family in the tide of the times. From the dream of ensuring food and clothing for each household, to the pain and choice of returning farmland to forest; from losing all money due to being cheated in transportation, to rekindling hope in the apple orchard; from struggling to persevere in the financial crisis, to harvest and reunion in the new era. The novel outlines the vicissitudes of rural areas in northern Shaanxi over the past thirty years with delicate writing, and creates the image of a group of farmers who refuse to accept their fate or defeat. The yellow sand does not change and flows eastward, just like the people on this land, after going through wind and rain, they finally see a rainbow. This is a soulful hymn dedicated to the times and the land.
