The land has fallen, blood and chaos sweep across the country, and the Japanese army is staking everything on its delusion of swallowing an elephant whole.

Bayonets press closer and closer to the throats of China’s sons and daughters. The Chinese nation has reached its most perilous hour.

The struggle in central Jiangsu is fierce, and the Japanese invaders have sealed off the waterways so tightly that not even a drop can get through.

Chen Dalei, commander of the Sixth Division, has been ordered to establish an anti-Japanese base behind enemy lines in Huaiyin County, but support from above is extremely limited.

Chen Dalei: “I know the Sixth Division is the unwanted child, but the boss can’t give us absolutely nothing. No soldiers, no guns. How am I supposed to get anything done?”

Marshal Su: “Cut the damn nonsense. Fifteen machine guns are out of the question! Just tell me what you’ve got your eye on.”

Chen Dalei grinned ingratiatingly. “Boss, forget the fifteen machine guns. Give me your aide, Xie Ping’an.”

Marshal Su: “You really do scheme down to the bone. I’ve got a gem who went to university and seen blood, and you’ve set your sights on him too?”

Chen Dalei had already thrown caution to the wind. He spread his bedding out on the floor of Marshal Su’s office, ready to play the stubborn fool. “Boss, think it over. I’m going to take a nap.”

Marshal Su’s eyebrows twitched with anger. “Take Xie Ping’an and get out!”

Neither Chen Dalei nor Marshal Su knew that the Xie Ping’an who had dropped out of Southwest Associated University was no longer the passionate young man he used to be.

He was a soul that had crawled out of the mud on the Vietnamese front.

More precisely, a soul carrying a System that refreshes its intelligence reports every day.

The Japanese and their collaborators had finally met their sternest father.
