The Hands She Hid

She was once the most dazzling prodigy at medical school. After a twist of fate, she became a “fake” in everyone’s eyes, a shadow living in someone else’s place. Five years. She hid away in a forgotten little county town, working at a clinic on the verge of closing. With hands that had once wielded a scalpel, she took people’s blood pressure and prescribed cold medicine, day after day. No one knew her past. No one asked her name. She thought this was how her life would be: like an abandoned fake, slowly fading away in the dust. Until that rainy night. She saved a man covered in blood: Su Yan, the illegitimate son of a wealthy family, whose carefully staged “accident” had sent him plunging off a cliff. His eyes looked so much like someone else’s, someone she never wanted to think about again. She saved his life, but he shattered her peace. His enemies came after him, her past was dragged into the light, and the secrets she had desperately buried were torn open like festering wounds. It turned out that the “escape” she believed in was nothing but an even bigger deception. It turned out that even her identity as a “fake” was part of a script someone had carefully written. And when she finally decided to stop hiding and stood at the edge of the cliff for real, the man she had once saved said to her for the first time: “You’re not anyone’s fake. You’re the only thing in my life that’s real.” What she didn’t know was that Su Yan had known her from the very beginning. His approach had been part of another scheme all along. This is an intense struggle between “false” and “true.” When two people burdened with lies draw close to each other, will it bring destruction or salvation? “If I was a fake from the start, what gives you the right to say you love me?” “Because the moment I fell in love with you, you became one of a kind.”
