In the year 2147 of the New Calendar, mankind has struggled with interstellar colonization for three hundred years and finally reached a fork in the road. The Federal Academy of Sciences unearthed the Source Eater tribe's "Essence Extraction Technology" from nowhere - a Level 3 civilization gadget that increases energy efficiency by a thousand times. This is great, and the whole society immediately exploded: the technical faction clamored for evolution; the ethical faction said it was a curse; the practical faction folded their arms and watched the fun! Lin Bei, a scavenger in the Gray Rock Star slums, spends his days digging through garbage dumps for valuable scraps.
