The Sky Screen's Highlights: Ying Zheng Is Shattered, Li Er Is in Tears

Chen Tian obtains the Sky Screen System. As the System requires, he must fairly and impartially assess the rulers of every dynasty. A wise ruler receives a reward from Heaven. A tyrant triggers divine punishment. [Subject of assessment: Qin Dynasty, First Emperor Ying Zheng!] [Military achievements: Defeated the six kingdoms, unified the realm, campaigned south against the Baiyue and north against the Xiongnu...] [Domestic achievements: Standardized writing and measurements, abolished feudal enfeoffment, built the Great Wall and highways...] [Overall assessment: Impatient for quick results, obsessed with grand achievements, and left the people in misery...] Ying Zheng completely loses his temper and roars, “Impatient for quick results? Obsessed with grand achievements? Impossible! My merits are enough to surpass the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors!” [Subject of assessment: Tang Dynasty, Emperor Taizong Li Shimin!] [Military achievements: Destroyed the Eastern Turks, pacified the Western Regions, unified the realm, and welcomed envoys from every nation...] [Domestic achievements: Just rule of law, economic recovery, flourishing culture, and openness to remonstrance...] [Overall assessment: Seized the throne in a coup, imprisoned his father, and killed his elder brother...] Li Shimin wipes away his tears, feeling deeply aggrieved. “My private conduct may have been flawed, but I did right by the realm! What are you trying to say?” [Subject of assessment: Ming Dynasty, Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang!] [Military achievements: Defeated rival warlords, unified the realm, drove out the remnants of the Yuan in the north, and subdued the surrounding peoples...] [Domestic achievements: Abolished the chancellor's office, ruled officials with strict laws, reduced taxes and labor duties, and allowed the people to recover...] [Overall assessment: Harsh and ungrateful, slaughtered meritorious officials, and brought back burial sacrifice...] Zhu Yuanzhang's vision goes black. “Take down this damn Sky Screen! I'll have it cut into a thousand pieces!”
