Silent Memories

This is a work where science fiction and philosophy, plot and ideas coexist In the silent age of the twenty-third century, mankind conquered disease and aging, but fell into spiritual stagnation. The young man Chenxing feels lost in the city of absolute order (a materialist caught in doubt), and encounters an old man who insists that "there is nothing outside the heart" (a subjective idealist) and a priest who believes in "God's order" (an objective idealist). The three argued unsuccessfully, but together they embarked on a journey through the solar system. They witnessed the desolate tombstones of the lunar colony, the charred ruins of Mars' independence war, the luminous but unconscious strange life in the ocean of Europa, and the eternal but meaningless dance of matter in the rings of Saturn. Finally, inside the sun, they experience the scale of the universe from an inhuman perspective: they not only see the birth and death of stars under the laws of physics, but also perceive the interdependence of consciousness and existence itself. After returning home, an ant that appeared by chance became a revelation - this life that has survived for hundreds of millions of years without asking for its meaning made the three of them realize that human beings' persistent pursuit of the "essence of the world" may itself be a misunderstanding. The old man put down his gossip, and the priest took off his cross. They looked at each other and laughed, leaving some words of appreciation that were not verses, and then left. Chenxing stood alone on the silent street and heard the sound of heartbeat, breathing and falling stars for the first time. He still didn't know the world's answers, but he began to respond to the silence with footsteps. Between the vast universe and the tiny ants, human beings finally learned: existence comes before questioning, and experience is better than answers. And civilization is waiting for the first new heartbeat after a long silence.
