Wings Growing Out of Loess

In 1999, there was a severe drought in southern Shanxi, and Lijiaao on the loess plateau had no harvest. 14-Year-old Li Shugen (Shitou) carried the admission notice from the County No. 1 Middle School, but his father was disabled due to a landslide in the coal mine and his family was left homeless. He tearfully tore up the notice, picked up a blue cloth bag and embarked on the road to work.​ From the test of life and death in the small coal mine of Datong to the cold nights of studying in the shanty towns of Beijing, from the hard work of couriers to the silent work of e-commerce warehouses, this rural boy who holds "The Ordinary World" and hides his dream of studying has never given up the glimmer of light in the struggle at the bottom. He taught himself by using street lamps, consulted with tenants, and became an e-commerce operations director with his steadfastness and tenacity.
