Disguised as a Man, Serving as the Imperial Physician

[Transmigration · woman disguises herself as a man · court intrigue · two strong leads, 1v1]

Shen Qing, a top surgeon at a leading hospital, dies at the hands of a patient's family member, the very person she had tried so desperately to save.

When she opens her eyes again, she has become Su Jinhan, a new imperial physician at the Imperial Medical Bureau, about to enter the palace.

A man.

Binding her chest, lowering her gaze, and holding her breath, she thinks the hardest part of staying alive will be hiding that she's a woman.

Until

She passes all three rounds of the Imperial Medical Bureau's examination and makes a name for herself in a single battle.

When a palace maid is poisoned, she examines the body, pieces together the clues, and identifies the culprit on the spot.

When a plague ravages the capital, she shoulders responsibility for the lives of half the city by herself.

Everyone sees a young imperial physician with miraculous medical skills.

But what Xie Jingxing, the Grand Secretary who wields power over the entire court, sees is

“Your pulse is too delicate, your wrists too slender, and your Adam's apple too small. Su Jinhan, just how many secrets are you hiding?”

She uses his power; he investigates her identity.

She saves his life; he cuts off her escape routes.

In the end, two supremely rational people lose to a heartbeat spiraling out of control, somewhere between the chessboard and the operating table.

[Female lead: An INTJ surgeon, calm and rational, no saintly tendencies. She carves a path to survival with a scalpel.]

[Male lead: An ENTJ powerbroker and Grand Secretary, cold and calculating, going from “I might be gay” to “So you're a woman.”]
