The Coroner's Notes from the Dali Temple

[Hard-core forensic expert × poker-faced nobleman] Two souls sharing one body + scientific face-slapping + Tang Dynasty mysteries

Lin Wan transmigrates as the daughter of the Junior Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, but when she opens her eyes, she's in a death row cell, waiting to be executed.

Worse still, she's not alone.

The original owner, Chu Wanqing, a sixteen-year-old noblewoman from ancient times, is living in her mind.

Lin Wan, a modern forensic expert: “Based on the distribution of lividity and liver temperature, the victim died two shichen ago.”

Chu Wanqing, an ancient noblewoman: [Lin Wan, have you lost your mind?! That's a man's corpse! Men and women aren't supposed to be intimate!]

Lin Wan, taking out a silver knife to prepare for an autopsy: “I'm going to cut open the stomach and check for traces of poison.”

Chu Wanqing, screaming in her mind: [No! That's desecrating a corpse! You'll be condemned to the pig cage!]

Pei Yan, Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, is known as the “Cold-Faced Yama.” He has always firmly believed in The Washing Away of Wrongs.

That is, until he meets Lin Wan.

She says using silver needles to detect poison is a fallacy. She says the dead can speak. She says

“Lord Qing, if the law cannot deliver justice, then I will be the one variable that changes everything.”

From then on, a storm of science versus superstition sweeps through Chang'an.

Testing poison with silver needles? That's a hydrogen sulfide reaction. I'll shut them up on the spot with rotten eggs.

Examining corpses with red-oil umbrellas? Under polarized light, bruises are impossible to hide.

A zombie on a killing spree? That's rabies and carbon monoxide poisoning. Science dispels the fog.

What Lin Wan doesn't know is

her most dangerous enemy also comes from the future.
