Misty Rain Over the Sui Dynasty: A Lone Minister's Grand Scheme

He was the Sui dynasty’s greatest contributor, a true prime minister who held the reins of power during the Kaihuang era.

In his youth, he served Emperor Wen, quelling rebellions and establishing laws, full of ambition and confidence.

In middle age, he rose to the highest ranks, recommending famous generals and enriching the state, basking in boundless glory.

But then Dugu died, and Yang Guang ascended the throne.

Looking at that tyrant, so eager for grand achievements, Gao Ying knew the Sui dynasty was on the brink of ruin.

To deal with Yang Guang, he made a mad decision:

He would manipulate Yang Guang into building the Grand Canal, draining the Sui dynasty’s strength. He would provoke the people into revolt!

From capable minister in an age of peace to chancellor of a fallen dynasty, he personally orchestrated the tragedy of the Grand Canal.

This was a desperate gamble, feeding himself to the tiger, and a masterstroke by a lone minister, one that would earn him infamy for all eternity!
