Miss Xiguan

What is desire? At twenty, Chen Jiaxian handed all her earnings to her parents, only for her younger brother to spend it all. At thirty, Guan Xi was stripped of her position by her boss, then stabbed in the back by a colleague. At forty, Jun Ziyi missed out on a promotion and discovered her husband was cheating. She refuses to accept it. The stirrings of the flesh, the hunger for power, and the frustration of unfulfilled desires converge amid the old-city redevelopment of Xiguan, sweeping Xiguan’s women into a merciless commercial jungle. Through business schemes and workplace intrigue, women fight to break out of their cages and struggle to find themselves. Loyalty, betrayal, alliances, breakups, love, and turning against one another... This is a probing look at women’s desires, and at how they and the city shape each other.
