My Father Tells Stories

Introduction to the work: In 2025, I am thirty years old. As a "three-no youth" born in the 1990s, I experience the difficulty of starting from scratch in the current economic downturn. My educational path was more tortuous than that of my peers. I entered school at the age of five, repeated grades, and graduated from Chengdu Textile College at the age of 24. I have a science background, but I have a strong desire for expression. I have been recording for ten years since 2015, saving 150,000 words, hoping to collect 200,000 to publish a book at my own expense, just to leave a memory. As I grew older, I understood the difficulties faced by my parents. They were illiterate and relied on small business to move their family from a mountain village to a county town to support me through college, which gave me no reason to complain about life. The core of this book comes from my grandfather who passed away at the age of ninety-seven. My grandfather has not read many books, but he is the best at telling stories. The old stories around the firewood pile on winter nights when I was a child are precious memories in my heart. I also made a promise to write a book for my grandfather and that generation. My grandfather once participated in the war and spent his life watching the fireworks in the mountain village after returning. It was a pity that he could not see the prototype of this book. Now, I have compiled my grandfather's war stories and my own thoughts on wandering through most of China for six years after graduation into a book called "My Grandpa Tells Stories".
