As a probationary deity eager to earn a permanent position, Cythia treasured the chance to be summoned by a Chosen One and go adventuring with him. She thought that with her careful guidance, this down-on-his-luck noble scion would become a competent adventurer. But as they spent more time together, she gradually realized that Velen seemed... not quite right in the head? “The blue Goddess of Wisdom?” “System menu?” “Beginner’s gift pack?” She could put up with not understanding his weird expressions, but why couldn’t she make sense of his utterly baffling moves? Was tossing a bundle of straw an attempt to exploit the monsters’ command-reading mechanic and turn the tables on them? Was repeatedly jumping back and forth a way to test a monster’s aggro range? Was that feint an attempt to bait out its ultimate move? She still had no idea why Velen could toy with powerful monsters that normal adventurers considered “utterly terrifying,” but at least her path to becoming a full-fledged deity seemed... smooth sailing? “As long as this guy doesn’t spend every day fantasizing about taking on kingdom-level disasters with starter gear!” said Cythia, impressed without understanding why.
