Only I Remember the Future

If the world is destined to end in fifty years, would you choose to drink yourself into oblivion at one last wild celebration, or try to seize that faint glimmer of hope through countless seemingly fatal cycles? Ning Xi used to be a private detective who cared about nothing but money, until he discovered that whenever he fell asleep, he became a ghost from fifty years in the future. He possessed a beggar crushed by a machine, a soldier devoured by a swarm of insects, and even the dictator responsible for the world's destruction. From the highest point in the ruins, he watched mechanical gods carve a tombstone into the planet. At the bottom of the deep sea, behind blast-proof glass, he told his lover from fifty years in the future, “I love you,” though she couldn't hear him. He changed the past countless times, only to find that the future had shifted from one hell to another. Everyone thought he was a madman, a prophet, or even a traitor. Only he knew the truth: he just wanted to leave humanity a ticket home in that future, doomed to darkness.
