I Lived in the Weird Building

This is a system of rules about relationships as responsibilities. The horror comes not from ghosts, but from having to take responsibility for others once you respond. Lin Shu lived in an apartment building with many rules. New residents cannot respond to knocks on the door; non-new residents must. He thought it was for safety. Until he discovered that knocking on the door was not to say hello, but to pass "consequences" from one person to another. And some consequences, once caught, can never be put back.
