Starting from a late-night chess game in the Financial Street, a mysterious old man who begged to play chess connected a deliveryman with a monthly salary of 3,000, a cement factory owner on the verge of bankruptcy, an anchor abandoned by traffic, a construction site foreman struggling with safety and working hours, a father who guards a second-hand bookstore, and his Chinese landlord. The elderly living alone in the mutual aid agreement, the customer service specialist on the last shift, the husband looking for a pottery bowl in the ruins of the fire, the "dying marathon" in the hospital corridor, the technical elite who implanted their conscience in the algorithm... In the end, everyone quietly met in a convenience store on a rainy night and then left separately. ~ This is not a book about "success," but a book about "unsinking." Most of the characters in the book live on the edge of mainstream vision, but they use seemingly insignificant persistence - a game of chess, an agreement, a line of code, a bowl of hot tea - to complete a simple answer to the meaning of survival: To live is to look for a light in our respective rainy nights.
